As most of you know, Zetta was very artistic. Here are three things she painted that I have in my home. Leo did the woodwork. When I was a young girl and Leo and Zetta lived at 307 Mississippi in Alliance, I used to go over to their home. Zetta was very patient. She taught me a lot of crafts.....a couple I most remember is making flowers out of kleenix....and making flowers with old nylons (dyed) and florist wire....both are probably a lost art now.

A holder for fireplace matches....has a special place in my Christmas room!

A Halloween plaque...."The witch is in" - notice I even painted the walls in the "kids's room" to match the plaque. :-)

A "zither" built by Leo and painted by Zetta which hangs on my back door and makes a tune everytime we go in or out.

1989 Reunion Pullman WA

Below are pictures from the 1989 Phillip Family Reunion held at Sharon's home in Pullman WA, July 28th through 31st, 1989.

In no particular order, I have retyped some of the things that happened at the reunion. I didn't see them all and possibly more could have been added, but this was the best I could do. The turnout was great which made the reunion a huge success for me.

Kelly with Dallas and Mary's dog, JR.

Parchesi game played by the 4 J's -- Janice, Jary, Judy and Jim Phillip, reminiscing of the days we used to play this game with Grandpa Willie Phillip. He made the game board, painted it, left his thumbprint in the wet paint, made the leather cups for dice throwing and wooden pieces for moving around the board. Only thing wrong was that we all remembered the game being much larger. Of course, we were much smaller at the time.

Brittany and Kathie

Kyle lost $5.00 on a card trick played on him by Sharon. He never paid.

Maxine, Randy, Jary, Paul holding Geoffrey, Jerry on side

Ken's chair folded up on him right after everyone had sung "Happy Birthday" to him (his 80th birthday). Everyone just looked at him. His reply, "Well, help me up."

Michael asleep on the chair in the living room. Someone's very small shoes on the card table.

For those who know Judi Phillip's weakness, I found eight empty tic tac boxes in her bedroom trash can. Never got around to seeing how many, if any, beer cans were opened with a church key for Bob.

More sleeping ~ Dani, Karla, Colleen

Seen walking around our area - Jean, Leo and Zetta - they were always either going up or downhill.

Another candid shot in dining room of a lot of the kids gathered around the table.

Pinochle played a little Sunday night -- Leo, Sharon, Zetta, Jean, & Colleen

Janice and Janet

The POOL....Jared Mann was the first to be thrown in by Sharon; followed closely by Jim Phillip & Dick helping Jared out by throwing Sharon in. Judy walked in, clothes and all, because she wasn't going to be thrown in. Mary walked in with Dick on her arm. Jary started stripping in the living room to keep from getting his clothes wet, only to find out that he had taken time out to put a bathing suit on underneath, but his clothes went in anyway. Dallas managed to step in the water and back out before they finally got him in.

Bernadine and Roberta in the living room

Dallas called back after leaving - arrived in Billings in ten hours and his shoes were finally dry.

Another candid shot ~ maybe this was just after Jary had been thrown in the pool.

Don had car trouble in Colorado and was unable to make it to the reunion.

Zetta, Leo, Bernadine, Jean, Cory, Jim

Dick missed connections in Denver and luckily Larry Mann stopped Jim Phillip in time as he was driving down the hill to pick him up in Spokane. Postponed the trip for a couple hours until he could catch another flight.

Candid shot in dining room ~ Harriet, Bill, Maxine, Judi, Dani, Leo, Sharon; Judy in the front.

Judy found her Minnetonka shoes to buy at the top of the Lewiston Grade, four hours after they left Pullman some thirty miles away. They say they were shopping in Moscow.

Kathie, Dick, Judi

Dennis called on Friday night, 7/28 at 10:30 p.m. Dennis' baby, Cally Lee, was born on 7/29 at 1:00 a.m. to make Sharon a grandma for the first time. Never have heard about a baby being born the day before it was born. A letter was received from Kenny wishing everyone a good time. He was stationed in Texas and unable to make it to the reunion.

Dee, Judy, Jim

Game of spoons for old times sake was played -- Judy, Sharon, Bill, Paul, & Jim Phillip. Maxine kept Jim from cheating.

Ray, Mary, Roberta, Judy (Bernadine walking away)

Larry & Sharon Colburn came down Sunday afternoon to see everyone. Ruth & Ray Stroud were able to spend some time with the family Monday while coming by to pick up Leo & Zetta, Devin & Jarred.
Maxine, Zetta, Bernadine, Roberta, Mary, Deric

Judy tried to get Larry to help her throw people in the pool. His words -- "Now, Judy, if I help, I'll go in. If I go in, I'll drown". Later Larry was heard saying, "I didn't even laugh when they were throwing people in". Kelly (age 5 in 1989) asked Sharon who threw her in. When she found out, she went and hit Dick and Jim and told them how mad she was.

Janice, Randy (standing); Kelly, Dee (sitting)

Nicholas (age 3 in 1989) managed to go under the water the last day and was pulled up and out by Ray

From left to right: Dee, Judy, Jim? Zetta, Leo, Larry, Devon, Ken, Mary, Harriet, Bob

Ken's words of wisdom (asked for by Janet shortly after there was some talk of throwing him in the pool ) -- "they better not TRY to throw me in".

Candid shot ~ too confusing to name all of them.

Michael, Karla, Deric, Elizabeth and Adrian must have spent 16 hours a day in pool. No particular incident involving them. Cory was the only one with a cast at the reunion. He had it when he came, but managed some swimming anyway.

Another candid shot for you to try to pick out who's who

When the throwing in the poool began and we got around to Roberta, she made everyone back off by saying "I've got contacts!"

Sharon and Kathie and Larry standing up (you name the rest)

Janet had a fun time locating Julie at the airport in Spokane. They connected when Julie saw Tom (age 9 in 1989) walking around sporting a sign that said "Phillip".

On Sunday we had a photo session. These are people taking pictures of groups on the other side of the pool. Judi, Zetta, Dallas

Devin got a few diving lessons when the pool was a little quite. Julie finalized a house purchase the day after she arrived.

Jean and Randy sitting at one of the tables. Looks like games of trouble, rook, and uno are available. Also, a lone billiford and camera. Maybe this was when people were getting thrown in the pool.

Dee was seen sitting very quiet on the living room couch when all the throwing in the pool was going on and Jerry wasn't seen anywhere.

Candid shot ~ Judy, Dick with video camera, Larry, Karla and Michael (sitting in chairs)

Ken and Harriet gave every family a trivet that Ken had made. For three days Alex said "Sharon, can I get in the hot tub?"

Dick out by the pool talking to Michael.

Longest laugh was by Larry Mann when Ray told the story of Judi's blindness. In wondering why he got such a kick out of the story, several people concluded that maybe Larry had been in the same situation before.

Newest person in the Phillip family, Geoffrey. Although, as you may remember, my first grandchild, Dennis' daughter, Cally, was born in Tennessee on Friday during the reunion.

Randy came the farthest distance and brought every family a leather address book imprinted with "Phillip Family Reunion -- 1989".

Sharon and Brittany (Jim's daughter)

Dani brought the newest car -- purchased just a few weeks before the reunion.

Dallas getting something out of the pool. Michael, Tom & ____ looking on.

Sharon's clipboard only came up missing once, for just a short time. I understand there was talk of permanently hiding it, but Sharon let every one know that there would be no more meals if the clipboard came up missing.

Bob & Bernadine's family that attended the reunion. Names are listed on picture.

Geoffrey was the youngest one here; Ken, the oldest.

Deric, Mary, Dallas

Harriet got in the kitchen just once. We tried to keep Harriet, Bernadine, Maxine & Zetta out to show them our thanks for all the years they did all the work.

Jean, Maxine, Dee, Jary

Maxine brought Brittany back from the front walk. Kathie thought she went with Maxine, but Maxine didn't know it.

Zetta, Leo, Julie and in the front row are Dean's kids (Devin and Jerrod)

Kathie and Cindy kept a low profile, but they were invaluable to Sharon in the kitchen.
Ken & Harriet's family. Names are listed on the picture

JR came to the reunion (Mary & Dallas' dog). All the kids loved him.

The four brothers ~ Jean, Bob, Leo, Ken

I wonder if we'll ever know who hid the two muffins in a plastic bag in Sharon's office?????

The Ken Phillip family ~ Ray, Sharon, Jim, Ken, Dick, Harriet, Bill, Paul

Am sure there was more, and some you didn't know had happened, but now you can talk to others in the family and find out the REST OF THE STORY.

Interesting facts about the food consumed (just a few examples)

7 cannisters of pop
40 pounds of turkey
12 dozen donuts and rolls
10 1/2 pizzas
9 loaves of bread
8 loaves of garlic bread
6 pounds of carrots
6 heads of lettuce
45 pounds of potatoes

Below are memories many of you sent in about Ken Phillip....and then memories Ken had of most everyone attending the reunion. I have scanned these pages. Hopefully, if you double click on the picture, you will be able to read the memories (I then reduce them by holding down the Ctrl key, and scrolling backwards with the mouse wheel).

And...one last memory from Julie
