1910s Decade and before

This is a photo I scanned from Jean's pictures.

Willie with farming machines (possibly Ken in picture, also).

These are items I scanned from Bob's information and photos

This is from the Bible of John Behem (a letter between two cousins). John Behem is probably Ben's father, Leah's grandfather, Willie's great grandfather. The Uncle Ben and Aunt Matilda (married in 1848) mentioned in the letter are Leah's parents (Leah is Willie's mother). These two boys (Allen & Oscar) presumably are Leah's cousins.

Postcard caption is "the home place"

Postcard caption is "Granpa Phillip's place"

According to Bob these are their horses ~ Belmont & Dugan. Belmont could be ridden. Dugan could not ~ Ken could ride Dugan if horse wanted him to. Willie could always ride Dugan but he carried a 2x2 two feet long. Alma drove the team ~ she was driving this team when Ken got his leg wrapped around the axle and broke his leg. Alma was able to get the team stopped.

Postcard to WW Phillip regarding his sister's funeral (Lula May, born 1883, died 1920, married to Ernest Schultz)

These are pictures I found in Dad's photos with dates between 1910 and 1919. Obviously, most of them are of Ken, prior to others ~ Jean, Bob, & Leo, being born.

Postcard, Springview High school, where Ken went to high school, dated 1911.

Ken (when my son Dennis saw this picture years ago, he said "That looks like me, but where did I get those clothes!" Dennis looked just like Ken at this age).

Ken on "infamous horse". Roberta has this horse now. Bob refurbished it.

3/10, Postcard (ranch scene near Tripp County South Dakota) to Mrs. Will Phillip, Brocksburg, NE, "Dear Sister & All: How are you getting along. I am going to town today, will write later and send my picture to you. Did you get the package that I sent to you. What have you been doing. I would like to see you. Answer soon. From your loving Sister " can't read signature but looks like F.D. or F.O. (possibly sister Frances).

January Birthdays

This year I'm going to try something different ~ to let you know the birthdays and a short paragraph of information of the 1st generation (Harriet, Jean & Maxine, Bob, & Leo) and 2nd generation (Ray, Jary, etc) and a little bit about their lives at present. Any info you can provide in advance of the birthday month would be very helpful.

You can click on the underlined words for more information.

January 4. 1918 ~ Maxine ~ lives in Alliance with Jean. They live at the Crossroads in Alliance. They have two children (Jary & Judy), four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren with one more due in July. Anytime you are in Alliance for a visit, give Jean & Maxine a call...you can have lunch or dinner with them at Crossroads with a couple hours advance registration.

January 12, 1942 ~ Jary ~ lives on the Stone Creek golf course in Omaha with wife, Dee. Both Dee & Jary are retired. Jary retired twice ~ once in 1998 and again in 2007. They have two children (Jennifer & Alison), and five granddaughters. Golf is one of Jary's retirement hobbies as well as Nebraska football, tennis and Bible study.

January 18. 1955 ~ Jim ~ lives in Green River, Wyoming with wife Kathi. They have three children (Nick, Brittany, & Cody). Jim has been employed at Solvay for many years and will be eligible for retirement in one year. Golf is one of Jim's hobbies as well as do it yourself jobs around the house. Anyone know a good place to retire, let Jim know....so far I don't think they have settled on a place.

Other extended family birthdays are:

1/5/1969 Alison (Jary's daughter)

1/6/1971 Christine (Don's daughter-in-law, Terry's wife)

1/18/1925 Zetta's birthday

1/20/1941 Tony (Sharon's husband)

1/21/1946 Verlene (Don's wife)
