Memorial Service, Bernadine Phillip

On Saturday, February 21, 2009, a memorial service was held for Bernadine Phillip at the Masonic Temple in Alliance, Nebraska. The service was conducted by the Order of the Eastern Star Service, Aloyah Chapter #185. The "In Loving Memory" printed sheet for Bernadine had African Violets on the front - so appropriate for Bernadine. As most all of you may know, Bernadine was a master at growing African Violets.

The picture above is the table at the Masonic Temple (flower arrangements, guest book, and a picture of Bernadine). A picture of some of the early arrivals at the Masonic Temple is on the left.

There were two posters of pictures of Bernadine's life (click on the pictures to see a larger version).

After the service, a fine lunch was served, caringly prepared by the Eastern Star members. This is a picture of a few of the people attending.

After the lunch, many of us went out to Judy & Larry Mann's home for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Here is a posed picture of the Phillip brothers (Leo, Bob, and Jean)

Prior to the Saturday service, on Friday evening as everyone began arriving in Alliance, Janice had an evening meal at her home. It was great to get together with everyone - some hadn't seen each other for many years. The white hair was abundant from the Phillip and Colling sides of the family.

Relatives attending on the Colling side were
Bill Colling and wife Inga. Bill is a second cousin
Alice Ann (Colling) Hilzer. Bernadine's first cousin and the last living first cousin

Relatives attending on the Phillip side were
Bob Phillip
Janice and Archie Lawrence and son Kyle
Don and Verlene Phillip and sons Wally, Scott, and Terry and Terry's son Dayn
Mary and Dallas Dietrich
Bert and Jerry Upton, Liz with son Cody, Alex, Callie, Adrian, wife Holly, daughter Wynn

Sharon & Tony Singleton

In addition, there were many other friends in attendance.
