Years ago, Thanksgiving was the major holiday for the "Phillip Family". Most of us remember the Thanksgiving dinners at Grandma Phillip's home on Cheyenne, and later at the Good Sam Village Recreation Center. Some of us older cousins will remember Thanksgiving at Grandma & Grandpa Phillip's home at 507 Sweetwater. Maybe Judy Phillip will provide us with a funny memory of her first Thanksgiving with the Phillip family when she first married Ray. Any other memories or pictures out there???
These are pictures I have found of Phillip Thanksgivings. The first picture must have been at 507 Sweetwater, 1951, when Grandpa Phillip was still alive (see if you can find yourself or name everyone you see).
The next picture is of Grandma Phillip and all the grandkids (I think Paul had not been born yet) (both pictures were pre 1958). The second one is only part of the family - some were to the left of the picture.
1958 Thanksgiving - Grandma Phillip with her four sons in house on Cheyenne. The next picture is of the Ken Phillip family.
Remember this house, Grandma Phillip's, 1243 Cheyenne, Alliance.
Next are pictures of the same 1958 Thanksgiving -one of everyone, and one of Grandma Phillip with all her grandchildren.
The next two pictures are from the 1971 Thanksgiving at the Good Samaritan Recreation Room in Alliance when Grandma Phillip lived at an apartment in Good Sam.
1975 - The first Thanksgiving after Grandma Phillip died, we had our last "all Phillip" Thanksgiving that I remember, or that I attended. It was held at the Good Sam Rec Room again. The only pictures I have are of the Bob Phillip family and the Ken Phillip family, plus the one below of my four younger brothers (nice pants, Paul) :-).
The Ken Phillip family did occasionally continue the Thanksgiving tradition...the only two pictures I can find at this time are the one in Pullman WA, 1985, where we all posed one more time, and again just a table shot in Riverton WY, in 1999 when several of us got together at Dick & Cindy's home.
OK, Now it's your turn. I am going to give blog writing privileges to all of the first cousins and their spouses as well as Mom. If Jean, Bob, or Leo have access to a computer and want privileges, let me know. If anyone in the next generation wants to post, let me know.
Anyone can comment at the end of a blog. Stay tuned and check back often. You never know when someone will leave a comment or post another blog on this Phillip Family site. I have two other blogs going - our travel blog that we have been doing for about three years, and Tony's family blog that I just started after our recent trip to UK http://thesingos.blogspot.com/. They are loads of fun - a great way to keep the family connected.
This is a relatively easy site to use. When you are doing a new post, the icon to the right of the ABC icon is for uploading pictures. The icon next to that is to upload videos. I always upload pictures using the left layout.
I thought it would be fun to
- Scan old pictures for uploading to the blog write about Phillip family memories we all have
- Provide updates to anyone keeping track of the Phillip geneology
- Write about current events in our lives
- Places you have been
- Careers you have had
- Weddings and births in your family
- etc. etc. etc.
Isn't technology great! I think this would be fun just to keep in touch. If anyone has any objections to the Phillip family info and/or skeletons being put on the web, let me know. This blog site is user friendly...after you get the hang of it. You can upload pictures and videos. Many of you have been receiving our travel blogsite ....now we'd like to hear more about what all of you are doing with your lives. This blog sight is http://kkphillip.blogspot.com/
